Texas · Our guidance
Know who is behind the answer.
HealthBenefitsCompass LLC, a subsidiary of HealthcareGPS Inc., operates Texas Medicare Guide. This is an educational website, not Medicare or a government agency.
What you can expect here
Care across a large region can take coordination. Prepare for travel to appointments, leaving work coverage, or helping family. We help you prepare questions and understand general rules. We do not rank plans, recommend an individual plan, enroll you, or confirm your personal benefits.
Texas HICAP: 1-800-252-9240. Ask for a benefits counselor serving your county.

Key explanations link to Medicare.gov, CMS, Social Security or the responsible state and local program. Pages that carry a review line were checked by the reviewer named on it, on the date shown: Lauri Middleton, RN, MSN reviews for accuracy against those sources, and Karen Orilla reviews for plain language and clear design. The reviewers page lists their credentials and every reviewed page.
Automated tools assist drafting, source comparison and software testing; they do not replace those reviews. A page without a review line carries no review claim.
Who reviews this content
Two named people check the pages that carry a review line. The line names the reviewer, what was reviewed and the date, and the review register lists every reviewed page. Both reviewers work at HealthcareGPS Inc., the parent company of HealthBenefitsCompass LLC, which operates this site.

Accuracy review
Lauri Middleton, RN, MSN
Chief Clinical and Content Officer · HealthcareGPS Inc. · 37+ years of experience
Reviews Medicare rules, dates, costs and coverage explanations for accuracy against the official sources each page cites.
Registered Nurse with a Master of Science in Nursing, more than 37 years of cardiothoracic nursing experience and roles in health insurance. She has long worked to give consumers and healthcare professionals the tools to navigate health insurance and make better healthcare choices.
- Credentials
- RN — Registered Nurse
- MSN — Master of Science in Nursing
- License
- Licensed Medicare insurance agent
Key note: Lauri is also a licensed Medicare insurance agent. That license is why she reads enrollment, plan and cost rules the way an agent must. It is not used on this site: nothing here is sold, recommended or enrolled, and reading this site does not make anyone your agent.

Plain-language review
Karen Orilla
VP Marketing and Design · HealthcareGPS Inc. · 20+ years of experience
Reviews pages for plain language, readability and clear design for older adults and the people who help them.
More than 20 years in healthcare and financial services, specializing in creative and strategic design. Her focus is clear, user-friendly design that helps people understand and act on what they read.
A review checks a page against the official sources it cites, on the date shown. It is not medical, legal or insurance advice for your situation, and it does not replace confirmation from Medicare, your plan or a licensed professional.
Rules can change. Check the source and the date on the page. Your actual documents and the responsible agency or plan determine what applies to you.
Your choices and information
Read the guides without providing a name, phone number, Medicare number or medical details. Saving a preparation task is optional: only the task identifier and save date stay in this browser, for up to 30 days. You can remove it. The existing personal checklist tools explain their own device storage separately.
Copying a guide link does not include your answers or saved state. Printing lets you add notes by hand. Public-help referrals are available without submitting a sales lead.
If a separate plan-search or licensed-help service is offered elsewhere on a hub, it is a separate destination with its own terms. It does not become an endorsement of a plan or this guide’s official status.
Corrections made in this review
- September 9, 2026: unanswered annual-review questions on county sites now remain unknown; a blank form cannot return a reassuring “no action” result.
- Penalty explanations now describe creditable drug coverage and Extra Help exceptions, and distinguish Part B from Part D.
- Older calendars no longer infer drug-coverage deadlines or HSA contribution dates from an employment date alone.
- County population and enrollment claims are withheld until a reproducible source extract supports them.
These corrections apply to the affected pages across our hub network. They are not a statement that every page has received professional approval.
Something unclear or out of date?
Tell us which page and sentence needs review through our correction channel. Include the official source if available. Do not send Medicare numbers, health records or financial details.
For an individual Medicare problem, use the contact on your notice or Medicare.gov’s official help. A website correction request does not preserve an appeal deadline.
Come back when life brings a new question.
A visit to schedule, a new notice, a family member who needs help, or a fall coverage review: each is a reason to return. Keep a task on this device or share the guide when it would help someone else.
