Use my benefits · 3-minute guide

Understand an extra benefit before using it

Know which questions to ask about conditions, limits, and providers.

The short answer

Some Medicare Advantage plans offer extra benefits — such as dental, vision, hearing or fitness memberships — that Original Medicare does not cover. Availability and the conditions for using them differ by plan. A general description cannot confirm a benefit for you.

A useful next step

  1. Find the current benefit information

Use your own current coverage documents and the member-services contact on your card.

  2. Ask about the conditions

Ask whether limits, eligibility requirements, approved providers, or other steps apply before using the benefit.

  3. Choose what is useful

Discuss care needs with the appropriate professional. A benefit’s availability is not a reason by itself to use more services.

Words you can use

“What conditions and limits apply, and where can I find that explanation in my current documents?”

An everyday example · Fictional

Sam hears about a benefit from a friend. Sam asks their own Medicare Advantage plan whether anything similar applies, rather than assuming both people have the same benefits.

A question worth keeping

Ask which conditions, limits, and providers apply before using an extra benefit.
